Thank you for your interest in PULSE of PA's and Henry The Hand's(TM)  team-campaign for

National Patient Safety Awareness Week 2008.

Attached you will find several posters & logos available for your organization's use.

They are also available at www.pulseofpa.org under "Free Posters". Additional posters can be found at www.henrythehand.com.

Please email us as to how you &/or your organization will be encouraging patients to ask their health care workers: "Did you wash your hands?"
By replying, your organization will be included on our website and press releases as a Participant and Champion Handwasher!

Some ideas to include patients in promoting best practices in hand hygiene during NPSAW 2008:

*Reach out to local senior centers, day care centers, YMCAs, schools, church health ministries, disease specific support groups, libraries, etc with an informative flyer encouraging patients to ask their providers the week of March 2-8 to wash their hands.

*Utilize your organization's incentive program (or begin one).

*Provide patients with stickers(can be purchased at
www.Henrythehand.com or use some from your institution) upon entering your facility/office with the instruction to give one to any physician/health care provider that washes his/her hands. At weeks end reward those physicians & health care workers with the most stickers with recognition throughout the organization.

*Send a simple postcard or insert a flyer in mailings to your customer base.

*Instruct your physicians to tell their patient they cannot begin their examination until the patient asks them a specific question. Arm the physicians with a flyer or stickers to hand the patient so the patient uunderstands his/her responsibility.

*Create a Press Release and/or Public Service announcement to share with local newspapers, radio, & media.

*Institute a contest wth local colleges or high schools to create your institution's own hand hygiene reminder poster.

*Send information to your local, state, and federal government offices that you are asking all patients during NPSAW (3/2-8) to ask your institution's health care workers: "Did you wash your hands?" Provide a reproducible flyer for their distribution.
