  • National Patient Safety Foundation
    Begun in 1996, this non-profit organization is a leader in patient safety. When you visit you will find links to valuable information. You can also "join" a consumer or provider community interested in forwarding the mission of patient safety.
  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement
    Based in Boston, the IHI is another leader in the healthcare safety movement. With a great deal of confreernces and educational programs available, this is an agency dedicated to enagaging everyone involved in healthcare to ensure patient safety.


Recovery After an Error
  • The Sorry Works! Coalition
    Created by the family of a patient who died as a result of a medical error, The Sorry Works! Coalition encourages and trains providers in appropriate disclosure and transparency. A simple "I'm sorry," heals.
  • Medically Induced Trauma Support Services
    After causing a near fatal medical error, one physician reaches out to his patient. The two then create MITSS to assist all tose affected by medical error, the patients and the medical providers.
  • Patient Safety Inormation
    A link to a chat run by PULSE of NY with assistance from PULSE of PA. There is a schedule of internet chats to assist all those involved in medical errors and those working to reduce their occurrence.
  • Voices 4 Patients
    "A Voice for Patients " has been designed to educate patients and consumers (potential users of the healthcare system) on the national epidemic of healthcare error. The site offers informative on-line resources for consumers; including an extensive list of disease specific organizations offering support and education for patients and their families, as well as resources that enable consumers to research medical conditions and browse on-line medical dictionaries. These resources are not a substitute for the expertise of trained clinicians."
