
PULSE of Pennsylvania
is a grassroots organization working to improve patient safety and reduce the rate of medical errors using real life stories and experiences. All affected by medical errors and unplanned outcomes in healthcare are encouraged to use their experience to educate the community and work with the system for safer healthcare. While waiting for independent 501c3 classification, PULSE of PA accepts donations under the umbrella of the founding organization's, PULSE of America, 501c3 status.

Mission
PULSE of Pennsylvania
is dedicated to raising awareness about healthcare safety and reducing medical errors through education, advocacy and support. PULSE of PA works to renew the trustful relationship between patients and their physicians. We work to empower the public to make informed decisions, increase effective communication and respect between healthcare providers and their patients. We work to create community partnerships that will foster and ultimately lead to safer healthcare environments.

What PULSE of PA does
• Provide support to patients and families who have experienced medical errors or adverse events.
• Assist in reducing misunderstandings between patients and healthcare providers.
• Educate the community about quality healthcare practice so they may become knowledgeable, confident, and active participants in their health care experience.
• Provide a platform for effective communication and working partnerships whereby the community works with healthcare providers and institutions to proactively contribute to, and advocate for safe quality care. .
PULSE of PA Policies
PULSE of PA Representatives work to
• Encourage advocacy, partnership and education in healthcare.
• Offer support, counseling and friendship.
• Encourage the use of real life stories in provider education.
• Does not use the names of facilities or healthcare providers publicly.
• Only gives public statements to the press that adhere to our mission.
• To maintain confidentiality between all PULSE of PA participants and members.
• Encourage record keeping of all avoidable adverse events.
